Sean and Lisa have quite The Notebook story. When planning their intimate day they wanted it to reflect just that. It had been a long time coming for them to finally call each other husband and wife. They wanted their wedding to be symbolic, sentimental, and focused on only their love— no fluff needed!
When Lisa first reached out to me, I could hear the genuine love and her voice for Sean and the excitement they shared for having me photograph their day. They wanted their gallery to reflect the story being told with a touch of vintage classic and an emphasis on romance. And Eden Gardens State Park is one of my favorite venues to shoot at, so I knew it was a good fit. The symbolism of the giant oak tree at Eden Gardens really sparked interest for Lisa and Sean. They wanted the symbolism — stability, longevity, life —incorporated into the message given during their ceremony by the officiant.
Lisa wore an off-white, Mulberry silk dress with a long blusher and lace-trimmed veil. Sean rocked a classic white tux, looking dapper and so excited. She carried a family rosary around her bouquet to include all of their loved ones that wouldn’t be physically present that day. But everyone was there in spirit! I was absolutely obsessed with their idea to bring the vintage car as well! I mean, how can you not love that? Dreamy!
After the ceremony, we went back to their condo in Alys Beach to photograph their cake cutting and champagne toast. They toasted to each other, to me, and to the few people that helped to make their day happen. I was honored to say the least! Needless to say I was so glad I got to connect with them. They are deeply kind people with the type of joy that’s contagious.
It was truly such a special day to be a part of. Sometimes I get overwhelmed by the thought that maybe we’re missing something with the growing wedding industry of grand productions and lavish details. Sometimes I feel more love in a day like Lisa and Sean‘s – Simple, unique, intimate. The only thing that’s able to shine through on a day like this is the marriage that we are there to celebrate. I think Jesus smiles at that.
